A cozy cat game where you learn a language
Lexitail is a calm game about a homeless kitten: you feed it, furnish its home, and pick up Greek or Russian words along the way. No timers, no losing. Try a lesson right here.
A cozy game is a game without hurry or punishment: nothing burns, you can't lose, and it is nice to come back for five minutes a day. In Lexitail those five minutes are a vocabulary lesson that feeds the kitten.
A lesson with the kitten
The kitten asks for something in Greek — pick the right picture. Six tasks, just like in the game.
-
The kitten wants: το ψάρι
-
The kitten wants: το γάλα
-
The kitten wants: η μπάλα
-
The kitten wants: το τυρί
-
The kitten wants: το κρεβάτι
-
The kitten wants: το νερό
What makes a game cozy
Cozy games grew out of farms, little houses and pets: Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, Neko Atsume. What they share is not a story but a feeling:
- You can't lose. A mistake never takes your progress away, and the kitten doesn't run off if you skip a day.
- Nothing to rush. No timers, no speed rankings, no opponents.
- Care and a home. Feeding, petting, fixing, furnishing — small tasks with results you see right away.
- Short visits. Five minutes a day is a full game, not an unfinished one.
Lexitail: a kitten needs a home
At the start the kitten lives in a box in an empty room. Lessons of a few minutes feed it and earn coins, and coins fix up and furnish the house. Now and then stray cats drop by.
Every lesson is words with pictures and audio. The kitten never scolds you: a word you mixed up simply comes back later. A couple of weeks in, you notice you know a hundred words — though all you did was look after a kitten.
Which languages, and who it is for
English, Russian and Greek, in any direction; Spanish is next. Lexitail suits adults and children who can already read: there are no chats with strangers, and friends join by invite code.
Other cozy cat games
If you want the cat but not the language, try Neko Atsume (cats visit your yard), Cats & Soup (cats cooking soup), Little Kitty, Big City (a kitten exploring a town) or Stray (a cat in a cyberpunk city — more of an adventure). Lexitail is the one among them where caring for the kitten is the language lesson.

Questions
Is this a game for cats?
No — it's a game for people, about a kitten. If you're after a game where your cat chases a dot on the screen, you need a different app.
Is Lexitail free?
Yes. Lessons, the kitten and the house are free. Plus adds some nice extras, but you can play without it.
How much time does it take a day?
A few minutes. Five a day keeps the kitten happy. Skip a day and the kitten is still there.
Is it suitable for kids?
Yes, if they can read. The only other players they see are friends added by invite code.
